Phleghmbog Thickets (A forest)

Malachi
The thick, glossy black web silk from the giant spider droops ominously from the branches, glistening eerily in the dim light. As you get close to touch it. the web clings tenaciously to your fingers, its sticky texture making it difficult to pull away.

“Sorry, I was mistaken, it seems like the spider was the one hunted and eventually injured. What if it needs help?”

“if the attacker managed to injure a giant spider, maybe they’re pretty tough. I’d better find out more before I engage them in a serious fight”

Yes, if you’ll need to be - for example: trained / gifted / blessed / or through magic. No one here much experience the vast forest/woods/regions yet to encounter such abilities. But it is possible :)

Warden

also can we talk to spiders in this world?

Kid Dynamite

Yup

Warden

Rem

Sure, roll a 1d6 for me, and how would you do it?

Warden

There are two trails of tracks: to the north, you see the tracks of the spider, while to the east, there are humanoid footprints. Briefly following the eastern trail, you notice it includes multiple sets of footprints—both human and toad-like. The smell of human blood grows stronger as you move east, but you go no further and remain with your party.

Síofra
Lifting parts of the web, you notice a mixture of wool and fur intertwined with strands of blue-tinted spider hemolymph. It’s clear that this spider is injured.

Rem
You carefully pluck the plants but due to this unusually unique area of growth, they begin wilt. You managed to save but two. FYI: You can spend couple minutes to produce Healing Salve (restore 1d4 STR, 1 use. Risk: unknown effects may incur due area of growth.

If not, he holds his slingshot up at the ready, and pulls back on it ready to fire in case anything pops out.

If the webs are in reach, he tries to touch them.

An injured spider? Strange... especially such a large one based on the footprints... And what if it needs help? No creature should go through the pain of suffering and possibly dying alone!

ok i’m thinking now that it makes sense to find this spider victim and get more information on the humanoid that injured it. so if Estrella is going to find the spider i’ll go with her

So I failed the throw :(

examines the footprints and/or spider tracks. looking to see what direction they came from and leave towards

Malachi
starts to slow down a bit, falling behind the party as he veers to the side of the trail to get a better look at the black webs.

“If anyone is afraid of spiders now would be a good time to get over it. There was a huge spider here that could have been able to hunt a bear!”

Síofra
makes sure to steer clear of the webs lest she herself became entangled in them. She knows the creatures are long gone, but she still tries to not disturb the footprints to be able to track them if needed.

Warden

Rem searches for a bottle, possibly with water, in their rations.

Rem
bends down to look at the plants closely, they used to make crowns with this plant before - well - everything happened. They decide to take the plants with them, they gently pluck them off from their roots.

If possible, Síofra would lift parts of the webs with her axe to examine them further

How do you all proceed?
