## "Day for Night" links the story of my father — a cinematographer who ended his professional career after a psychological breakdown — with different approaches to light in scientific and cultural production. At the intersection of biographical rupture and scientific classification, I examine how classed origins shape perception, decision-making, and self-understanding. I explore light as a cinematic, scientific, and metaphorical medium, considering how it produces visibility and obscurity, shapes memory and remembrance, informs history and classed realities, and how narratives are constructed, carried, and perpetuated.

Alexander Kluge’s narration is not linear, but associative or seemingly devoid of chronology. Yet situations, images, facts and so on linger in the mind, thereby constructing a peculiar reality: imprints of thoughts and experiences that describe the narrator’s world in all its depth.
- # If we attempt to hold on to the sudden flash of an image from the past, trying to grasp the past, if only for a brief moment, everything shifts again in the very next instant. Nothing shields us from the renewed flare of what has been; we must continually reclaim our own memory anew.
