Yarn: Using Holst Garn lambswool/cotton, fingering weight with 3 strands in Ivory (cream) and Mushroom (brown). Used about 1.5 skeins of each. Trimmed edges with leftover Drops cotton

Straps - try on top & mark strap placement - ch 50/strap length into strap start place - sl st to connect strap to strap end place. sl st again into next ribbing stitch to turn - sl st into every chain of strap & into end - tie ends, cut off, weave in ends

To shape the front, ended up shortening the chainspace areas at the top to better fit the neckline, and adding extra chainspace to the bottom to wrap around the torso.

Top ribbing - on right side, from last st of body row, ch 8/rib height & sc into chain - sl st to connect end of ribbing with the top - sl st again to turn/start next row - sc, BLO until end of the row, ch1 & turn until ribbing is complete - sl st ribbing together on wrong side - ch 1 and trim ends

Spiral crochet Magic ring ch5 Round1: Chain 3, do 3dc into first stitch of ring, repeat x3 till it looks like a square. place stitch marker Round 2: Chain 4, do 2 dc into the next chain space and 1 dc into each of the next 2 dc, skip the last dc. repeat x3

Subsequent rows - ch1 & turn. start with opposite stitch that row 1 ended with - continue alternating between sc and dc - continue until you have reached 22 rows, or the height of top

Written instructions: Foundation chain: 60 stitches or height of hat in colour 1. Keep it loose Row 1: hdc into back bump for 50 st, sc into back bump only for final 10 stitches. Turn ch1 for sc side, 2 for hdc side Next rows: Switch colours every 2 rows, match stitch types from previous row

Body (lemon peel stitch) Row 1 - Alternate between sc and dc stitches, into edges of each row of ribbing - connect end of row with sl st

Bottom ribbing - ch 8/rib height - SC, BLO. ch1 & turn at the end of each row. Continue until circumference length - Connect ribbing panel with sl st - ch1 and turn inside out so slip stitches are on wrong side

Dec 2023 did a version with Vintage DK superwash wool yarn and 4mm hook. Foundation hdc 50st + 5 sc, and went until circumfrence was 19in unstretched and 21in stretched
