Dec 2023 did a version with Vintage DK superwash wool yarn and 4mm hook. Foundation hdc 50st + 5 sc, and went until circumfrence was 19in unstretched and 21in stretched

Modifications: Handles - Lengthened to 75 st from 60. Sides: Decreased sides 12 st for 2 additional rows to make opening smaller.

Bottom ribbing - ch 8/rib height - SC, BLO. ch1 & turn at the end of each row. Continue until circumference length - Connect ribbing panel with sl st - ch1 and turn inside out so slip stitches are on wrong side

Written instructions: Foundation chain: 60 stitches or height of hat in colour 1. Keep it loose Row 1: hdc into back bump for 50 st, sc into back bump only for final 10 stitches. Turn ch1 for sc side, 2 for hdc side Next rows: Switch colours every 2 rows, match stitch types from previous row

Subsequent rows - ch1 & turn. start with opposite stitch that row 1 ended with - continue alternating between sc and dc - continue until you have reached 22 rows, or the height of top

Customizations: Tiffany’s head circumfrence is 21 in. Initial chain is 55 stitches high

Top ribbing - on right side, from last st of body row, ch 8/rib height & sc into chain - sl st to connect end of ribbing with the top - sl st again to turn/start next row - sc, BLO until end of the row, ch1 & turn until ribbing is complete - sl st ribbing together on wrong side - ch 1 and trim ends

Used back enclosure style A. Super fun, the wave pattern is really forgiving and the pattern instructions were super clear.

Redid the front a few times and it was still a bit floppy at the centre, ended up gathering it at the back so it laid flat.

To shape the front, ended up shortening the chainspace areas at the top to better fit the neckline, and adding extra chainspace to the bottom to wrap around the torso.

Straps - try on top & mark strap placement - ch 50/strap length into strap start place - sl st to connect strap to strap end place. sl st again into next ribbing stitch to turn - sl st into every chain of strap & into end - tie ends, cut off, weave in ends

For the back since I had less time ended up doing a simple DC mesh and then a tie closure similar to the wave top on the sides.

Bandana

Customizations: Made ribbing 7 stitches high, straps 53 chains long. Top 10in high in total

Fingerless gloves

Base: 106 stitches around (~8.5in diameter). Used moss/granite stitch from scarf, messed up on colour switching but ok

Super simple! Finished it in 3 days on camping trip. Added an extra couple of rows and extra-long ties

Used leftover holst garn from striped scarf, but only 1 strand

Yarn: Fireweed Lily DK Tweed in graphite, 4mm hook

Customizations: Added extra round for thumb and one less for pinky

Used hobbii cotton yarn 8/4 with 3mm hook. Took FOREVER but happy with result

Miffy amigurumi

Yarn: Impeccable solid acrylic in peacock (green), soft rose (pink), Impeccable tweed in taupe (brown)

Made shorter (only 40in total) because I was using scrap yarn, 3 weight with 4mm hook. Edged the border with doubled fingering weight holst garn yarn

Made 1 each for me and Max! Used free pattern from ravelry and scrap acrylic size 4 yarn with 5mm hook.

Baby snoopy tapestry crochet

Tip: Use st markers and count out where limb attachments go otherwise can end up lopsided

Stuffed one with T-shirt scraps, solid but heavy, another with polyfill which is a lot more fluffy. Both are good just different

Cosmaudi has a scrap balaclava pattern coming out January too

Yarn: Using Holst Garn lambswool/cotton, fingering weight with 3 strands in Ivory (cream) and Mushroom (brown). Used about 1.5 skeins of each. Trimmed edges with leftover Drops cotton

Scrunchie

Customizations: stopped after about 7 inches, trimmed ends with contrast colour

Yarn: Used leftover Drops 4mm cotton yarn

Customizations: Initial chain of 12 stitches instead of 16-20 for size. Didn’t switch directions after rows, crocheted in a spiral instead.

Something that takes advantage of auto colour changing yarn or more random colour changes
