Notes on achieving great blue hair, things that work for me personally

Pravana: Blue

Don’t wash your hair for a few days before you bleach. Be a greaseball. This helps protect your scalp and your hair.

I use 40 vol peroxide for the first rounds, then 30 vol peroxide

it’s good because it starts dark and then fades over time

Olaplex? I don’t need it.

@me Never go to the salon to get coloured ever again. You can do it yourself!

Bonus purple: achieved by mixing a bit of Punky Colour: Cherry Red (that’s from a 10 yr old jar)

Punky Colour: Midnight Blue

Punky Colour: Atlantic Blue

Punky Colour: Lagoon Blue

Wash your hair a day or two before adding the colour

Joico K-Pak Color Intensity: Cobalt Blue

For me, it usually takes 3-4 rounds of bleaching

Bleaching Process

I like a 2:1 developer:powder ratio

Hair... there are layers of hair... the head is a sphere...

just use really cheap shampoo, it doesn’t take as much colour out

You gotta section

wash with cold water

make sure you don’t put too much in a section

paint the top of the foil, which touches the underside of the hair

be generous with the bleach

make sure the bleach doesn’t dry out. spritz it with a spray bottle and cover your head with a plastic bag to trap the heat and moisture

Condition your hair after you bleach

Wait ~3 days before bleaching again
