After an app restart, I opened , then pressed cmd-k to come back here, and when dragging a card a duplicate started showing up. (no idea if this can be replicated)

Maybe 2-3 seconds to run an all spaces search as of April 9, 2024?

in theory, a huge amount of spaces may slow down the time it takes to load your list of spaces. but local caching hides that issue. This is something that can be optimized with pagination in the future

Relatedly: If a gigantic image is put into a card (e.g.: multiple pages of a PDF), the way the card “sticks” to the mouse causes some really weird interactions.

When editing a card, press esc to close the edit dialog. After doing so, b no longer works to toggle Box creation on.

macOS Cmd-Ctrl-F works in app.

the current hack that exists is that if you use three backticks ` in your card then the limit for that card is increased to 4000 chars

Keyboard shortcuts for markdown formatting. e.g.: ctrl+b with text highlighted to make it bold.

Sync changes when you come back online. Frequently have to refresh the page to see changes from another device.

Cut/copy/paste doesn’t work if the “dialog” is still open directly after selecting cards. Have to hit esc to dismiss it first.

Selecting a favorited color can change the opacity, but the slider won’t visually change until you close/open the color dialog.

Search across all spaces was “slow” when I used it before with a small number of cards.

in theory, the current implementation of searching all spaces may slow down when you hit that level. But when it becomes an issue that impacts more ppl, we’ll move to improve search

I have over a thousand and i have no issues

How far do the number of spaces scale? If I add a journal space every day for a year (plus stuff like code reviews at work, etc) will search on them (and cards across all spaces) slow down?

Zooming out very laggy.

I know I can turn it off, but I like the playfulness it adds to interacting with Kinopio, so I prefer to leave it on.

Weird “jitter” with scrolling where initially nothing happens, then it starts scrolling smoothly when zoomed out far.

This seems to be limited to macOS. A Windows work laptop could scroll any direction, iOS can generally scroll any direction, but I can’t get my Macbook trackpad to do anything but left/right/up/down

Amazingly good performance for how complex that space is. Smooth scrolling when zoomed out pretty far in general.

Ability to scroll both directions at the same time

Just saw this show up when sharing. Not sure if new or iOS just decided it didn’t want to show Kinopio’s 🤷‍♀️

If I want to change the width/tilt a card and my mouse is already over a card, the “stickiness” feature tracking the mouse prevents me from doing that until I move my mouse completely out of the card, and then go back.

Could a card be “tied” to another card so that it moves with one that is in a box?

Would it be good if a card that is “mostly” in a Box moves with it?

Is the current behavior totally fine and shouldn’t be changed?

Moving a card slightly acts the same as a click. Even when I’ve “grabbed” a card for a while by holding the mouse down for a while.

Cards that aren’t completely enclosed by a Box won’t move along with it.

(maybe?) Something with being able to make larger cards. I love the smaller card limitation, but being able to make a bigger document sometimes might be nice? Eg: tabletop game planning might have long descriptions for things.

Ability to turn off card wiggle when moving. Or even just the ability to press a button on the keyboard to have it stop temporarily. Can make it hard to align certain things that aren’t covered by the alignment feature.

Ability to set preview image for a card with a link. Especially for links that cannot create a preview, such as for stuff behind a login or only available in a corporate VPN.

Can previews be cached in the client so I don’t have to download them every time I open a space? Especially for slow internet or offline use.

Have the comment tooltip mimic the layout of a card of similar length instead of extending as wide as is possible.

“Hide URL” button does nothing when Kinopio is unable to get any preview information. e.g.: When linking to something on an intranet that isn’t publicly accessible.

Scrolling with mouse wheel while dragging a card pans the Space, but the card doesn’t move.

Restarting the app (not just refreshing the page) cleared this up.

If (at least) the macOS app is open for long enough (possibly if enough spaces are viewed), typing while the tag dialog is open becomes VERY slow. e.g.: Only 1 frame is rendered every 1-2 seconds.

More keyboard shortcuts. I’d prefer shortcuts for as much stuff as possible, like setting color of a card, changing the frame, etc.

Clicking on the “open URL” link for at least the Discord summary below on iOS causes background to turn black/flash when panning and the card to be in “drag” mode when returning to Kinopio via quick app switch (swiping on the bottom of screen bar)

Makes sense to assume not much movement is a click to edit, because someone’s hand can naturally move a little bit between pressing down and lifting up. Should probably take duration of time a card is “grabbed” into account though for whether or not a card should go into edit mode.

Scrolling the space while creating a Box (at least while scrolling down) causes a mouse desync where the Box bounds stay the same but the Space scrolls.

Change history. Just a simple solution like using the value of a card after editing is stopped instead of diffing as someone is editing it would be nice. Mostly because having timestamps of things would be nice.
