2025-07-25: Pixel and Ragman join the HTML Energy signal

this is the space for/by html energy

Pixel: We could get fabric markers, body paint, snacks, a tent, label paper for stickers, disposable cameras, trash bags, cutlery, and cups/plates/bowls

Ragman taught an awesome workshop about making little clay sculptures with NFC tags

I’ve heard of other friends attending the events, but I don’t live super close to a city so it never seemed like an option

Admittedly, when Ragman first asked me to co-host I wasn’t sure about it, but something in me felt like it was worth the drive out of the woods

the cool stuff just keeps happening anyway

I’m using this space as an easy place to dump and document planning this event along the way and try out this tool

This space is ephemeral and not really for archival purposes. I imagine it could make putting stuff together in a more structured way for the official site easier later.

2025-07-22 8 PM EST: Ragman is in, makes a website, and asks Pixel to co-host it at a park

Ragman: Looking at other location’s sites as inspo

Pixel: Hmm, I’ve got chalk, crayons, and colored pencils. Maybe we can borrow the zine cart at Iffy Books!

cynthia: it would be nice to make a webring of these after the event

Ragman also gave Pixel some spare NFC tags that we now use for the Philadelphia Mycology Club

Pixel was there to just hang out, meet cool people, and support Iffy Books (who was selling some of their artwork)

We met at a workshop and got along! Soon enough, we had each other’s 88x31’s site buttons traded!

ragman: hopefully HTML won’t be too demanding, but we can lean on unlimited data from some phone plans if needed for hotspots

cynthia: there might not be wifi

Pixel: Can we get nametags for names and pronouns? Or have people bring their own?

Pixel: People should make sure to charge their laptops in advance too! We likely won’t have access to a power source.

Ragman: Got nametags too!

Ragman: What should we do if we got funding?

Ragman: There’s a nearby cafe and a library! I’ve got KN95s

Pixel: We could also suggest that people bring their own mask collections and food to do an impromptu distro, it doesn’t have to be all on us

Ragman: Yeah, though they’ll need to end up <1 GB on neocities, we can try some image optimization like dithering!

Pixel: We’re going to need a rain location and masks when indoors

Ragman: I have some construction paper, markers, pens, pencils, string, and glue. And NFC tags xD

Ragman: Can you help with art supplies?

Pixel: Can we offer to compile HTML and art submissions?

Pixel spews logistical ideas that Ragman cleans up and puts on the site nicely.

Ragman: Giant pieces of paper to put alt text on trees

Ideas start brewing
