this is the space for/by html energy

HTML energy has been around since 2019. I think I’ve known about it since 2022 since I found myself unexpectedly on the gossips web collection

This is the official HTML Energy Site

Ragman taught an awesome workshop about making little clay sculptures with NFC tags

I’ve heard of other friends attending the events, but I don’t live super close to a city so it never seemed like an option

Admittedly, when Ragman first asked me to co-host I wasn’t sure about it, but something in me felt like it was worth the drive out of the woods

Pixel: kinopio is a handcrafted spatial thinking tool by pirijan

@pirijan mentions HTML energy in this interview as an alternative framing to digital brutalism in this interview

my friend lucas also launched the iOS app and helps with the architecture

the cool stuff just keeps happening anyway

This is the Official Site of Philly HTML day made by Ragman

Ragman put extra effort to make the ascii art show up in the thumbnail 😤

I’m using this space as an easy place to dump and document planning this event along the way and try out this tool

This space is ephemeral and not really for archival purposes. I imagine it could make putting stuff together in a more structured way for the official site easier later.

2025-07-22 7 PM EST: Pixel asks the Iffy Books Matrix channel if we can get an HTML energy day in Philly

cynthia: it would be nice to make a webring of these after the event

Ragman also gave Pixel some spare NFC tags that we now use for the Philadelphia Mycology Club

Pixel was there to just hang out, meet cool people, and support Iffy Books (who was selling some of their artwork)

We met at a workshop and got along! Soon enough, we had each other’s 88x31’s site buttons traded!

Arguably barely know each other

Pixel and Ragman met earlier this year at the low-tech electronics faire at Temple University

DID YOU KNOW: Philadelphia has a “Parking Day” where people turn parking lots into temporary public spaces?
