[x] 7) Financial question since the Web is obsessed with money: how much does it cost to run your blog? Is it just a cost, or does it generate some revenue? And what's your position on people monetising personal blogs?
I think the domain name is $20~/yr and I think that's it.
I'm a little split about for-profit blogs:
if writing is your job, that's awesome. Quality independent writing and journalism is really important and should be compensated in some way (I like Craig Mod's approach https://craigmod.com/essays/successful_memberships/)
On the other hand, for basically everyone else blogging is a thing to do on the side for fun, and I think it's dispiriting when people feel like they have to turn everything they spend time on into a passive-income side-hustle potential-business-empire.
[] 8) Time for some recommendations: any blog you think is worth checking out? And also, who do you think I should be interviewing next?
Peering into the bowels of my RSS reader, I'm subscribed to literally 1000s of blogs. But sadly too many have withered away over the ages.
[Funkaoshi](https://funkaoshi.com/) has been active for even longer than I've been blogging – I consider the author an OG blogging senpai.
I really enjoy [Alexotos'](https://www.alexotos.com/category/keyboards/) in depth mechanical keyboard reviews.
