character sheet - kid dynamite

Lore pickup: The town rumors has it, this area is filled with all sorts of bandits, outcasts and traps - a fitting rendezvous point for dealings of this sort.
🌍 World lore;
Moon Lilies - These delicate, glowing flowers are believed to grant safe passage to travelers.
Phleghmbog Thickets
I’ve changed the warden connection to only be within the Dialogue (Cream) - and swapped the ones directed to you, as your colour. Seems easier to backtrack.

Just invite me when you do :)
Rem and Kid Vamp have moved their sheets to new spaces to keep things easier to maintain + you can expand on more backstory / notes.

If possible, Síofra would lift parts of the webs with her axe to examine them further
So I failed the throw :(
If anyone is afraid of spiders now would be a good time to get over it. There was a huge spider here that could have been able to hunt a bear!

Síofra makes sure to steer clear of the webs lest she herself became entangled in them. She knows the creatures are long gone, but she still tries to not disturb the footprints to be able to track them if needed.
If not, he holds his slingshot up at the ready, and pulls back on it ready to fire in case anything pops out.
Rem searches for a bottle, possibly with water, in their rations.
If the webs are in reach, he tries to touch them.
considering whether it makes sense to climb a nearby tree to get a better perspective on who might be around
Malachi starts to slow down a bit, falling behind the party as he veers to the side of the trail to get a better look at the black webs.
Rem bends down to look at the plants closely, they used to make crowns with this plant before - well - everything happened. They decide to take the plants with them, they gently pluck them off from their roots.
kid examines the footprints and/or spider tracks. looking to see what direction they came from and leave towards
How do you all proceed?
The smell of human blood hangs heavily in the air, emanating from a fresh puddle, only hours old. It’s clear that this blood isn’t from the original campers, as the overgrown flora indicates the campsite has been abandoned for some time. You notice multiple footprints near the blood. A fight of some sort.
Following behind Kid Vampire with your spyglass in hand, notices something unusual in the footprints: alongside human tracks, there are impressions of a bear, a sheep, and an unusually large spider. Remnants of webs are scattered across the muck, evidence of a recent struggle involving these creatures.
The vibrant colors of some plants catch your eye. They seem familiar, reminding you of something you’ve read in the field notes from the Order of the Nine. You vaguely recall that these particular plants have beneficial properties if carefully extracted. It’s unusual to see them here, so far from your past home, where they were once common.
While behind the party the crisp cold air awakens you. Looking at the distance nothing seems to be dangerous. As you’re scanning the area with slingshot at the ready. You do notice that the branches have threads of web. Black webs, draping the top of the tree branches

Upon arriving at the campsite, you notice the crispness in the air, a sign that the temperature in the forest has dropped. The site has an odd atmosphere; you all notice that the color has been drained from the surroundings. A dead campfire sits in the middle, surrounded by piles of dark grey bedding. Overgrown flora dominates the area, though some of the plants have managed to retain their vibrant colors.
Towering, gnarled trees draped in hanging moss create a canopy that barely lets in any light, casting eerie shadows on the murky waters that snake through the undergrowth.
The ground squelches beneath your feet, a thick layer of muck and rotting vegetation that seems to cling to your boots with every step.
As you step into the Phleghmbog Thickets, you’re immediately enveloped by the dense, muggy air of this swampy wilderness. It’s strangely cold as you continue forward.

Ya

🐸 - I am holder of the space.
@rem
Inhabitants, including Goblins, Spirits, Treants, Trolls, Werewolves, Witches, and talking plants and animals, live by the forest’s rules.
The Wood is not empty of people. Hidden in the boughs and in empty glades are populated villages, rustic cabins, and the odd tower.
THE WOODS ======== The Wood surrounds and divides the realm, representing not just one forest, but all forests. Denizens of the Wood are fiercely independent, believing they are subject solely to its rules. Its various peoples, creatures, and unrelenting natural elements have kept the outside world at bay since time immemorial. The Wood is the spirit of all forests, and they in turn are its flesh, and the life they support a sign of its health.
While many are hostile to outsiders, some will interact with those who respect the Wood.
All inhabitants respect the Fae, also known as the Pale Folk or the Neighbors.
Most villages are within a day’s walk from one another to ensure the safety of travelers. Camping is a last resort, and those that journey far rarely return.
There is only one Wood. It is not one forest, but all forests. It is neither Good nor Evil but simply wishes to grow, to be free, and to protect itself.
The Roots are a foreign land. Time, logic, and matter operate by principles so alien as to make them unknowable. (Accessible through Gates)
The Wood is a porous dungeon. It has rooms and traps and hazards but can also be traversed in different ways: one can always climb a tree. This makes it no less dangerous.
Magic is rare and dangerous. Relics and Spellbooks are not well understood, and attempting to manipulate their power may lead to self destruction.
Relics originate in the Roots. They cannot be created by humans, only found. They are ancient, and yet they sprout from rubble as if grown there.
Doesn’t (yet) have likes, dislikes, any knowledge of the world surrounding her, as she was always locked up, hidden away
Now, she starts on a journey hoping that along the way she will find her true parents/family, a society where she is accepted for who she is
Tries very hard to fit in with humans (but she was always treated like the devil incarnate just because she isn’t one)
A changeling child who was put in place of another, she was never welcome in the town, they banished her as soon as she turned 21
Marching order
Roll a d20 and compare the results to the your STR attribute. If equal to or under that attribute, success. Otherwise, failure. 1 is always a success and a 20 is always a failure. This is called a Saving throw btw. Usually a roll occurs when there is a risk to the character.
Given the circumstances. I would consider this a roll for the climbing action. As there is a risk here; due to environment and the biome

Yeah, let’s get out of here.
After hearing Rem, I bounce up to my feet.
Rem rubs their eyelids. They noticed the changes in their sight, but decide to keep it to themselves for now.
(Huh, weird)
They look around to see if their sight really changed, or if they notice anything weird.
Well, that should be it, right? Let’s check out the forest, then.

Kid Vampire - Smells of blood is getting weaker from the rain
Stunned and breathless, I take a seat on a stoop nearby, in a bit of a daze. I pull out a fresh bottle of ale, down it in one go, and begin to look around.
You poke. Surprisingly, It’s rough a cold stone texture. A prickle of unease crawls up your spine as you realize these eyes remain fixed on you, unwavering. When Rem places the amberfruit beside the statue. As if a spell has been broken, the oppressive feeling lifts, leaving you slightly breathless and the eyes are no more.
if rem looks around, do they notice anything new that stands out?
kid dynamite is waiting for Rem, who is waiting to see if anyone has a bow to offer
Toad bandits are active when it rains
Rem offered fruit (Amberfruit) - A surge of energy to the eyes - something has changed.
Malachi Only - The eyes are no more, you don’t feel like being watched any more.
Siofra reserved the orange.
Rain is getting heavier

Poked that statue - Amberfruit has made the eyes go away
Noticing the amberfruit Rem had placed beside the statue. As the thunder rumbled like a monstrous bellyache, she glanced up, rain stinging her face, and continued towards the kid vampire, the orange tucked securely under her arm.
Fat, cold raindrops splash against your face, blurring your vision as you look up. The scent, your only lead, is already weakening. Every second lost is the trail growing colder, the chance of success slipping further through your grasp. You have to act now, before it’s too late.

Malachi begrudgingly gets off of the wagon.
I’ve no bow, but I can keep an eye from here with my sling
Malachi then approaches the statue continuing to peer directly into it’s eyes, having a staring contest.
Peculiar
Muttering to himself as he walks around it before coming back to face it, poking it in its eyes to see if anything happens.
Oh, I guess I’ll manage with a sword, we can always just run.
“Goodluck - See y’all aroun’”
You hear high whistle of the Ox ride as he continues on to his next journey.
While the reminisce of dust begins to settle, the rain ramp up and a crack of thunder explodes overhead.
Weather: Thunder and rain increases
Thank you for the ponchos!
Rem hops off the wagon, and lands in such a way that the mud doesn’t splash everywhere.
So do I just put the fruit here?
Rem walks to the statue, pulls out the amberfruit from their bag, and places it in front of the statue.
Nice! love it
I’ll be writing on a text doc, but ping on discord if you got questions :)
alright
might start planning some other character for rems backstory ooor draw something idrk yet
“Ahem..“
Clearing his throat.
“Well I gota another pickup but keep the ponchos.”
The ox rider’s body language is adamant, urging you to disembark from the wagon. You can sense he is a little uneasy here.
Malachi ignores the prompt to make an offering, lost in thought staring into the eyes of the statue.
❓ @Síofra - As you,Síofra , walk closer to it, the statue emerges in shades of gray stone flecked with quartz, its back and sides adorned with patches of clinging moss.
Sure, I’ll come with you, the person we need to meet should be somewhere here.
Rem reaches to their back, finding only a sword, so they turn back and ask:
Does anyone have a bow? I am really bad with swords.
I’m going to investigate the woods nearby , anyone want to join me?
if the smell of blood is strong and wouldn’t be too far from everyone else then i’ll investigate it. smells yummy to my vampire senses
The wagon draws closer and you see a small toad statue shrine, intricately carved and surrounded by offerings of flowers and coins, its eyes seemingly watching you as you approach.
✅Blood distance: Senses tingle, you surmise that the crimson essence begins 15ft into the woods. Not close but not far either. Human blood seems stronger than the sheeps

Síofra can’t tear her gaze from the intricate beauty of the statue. There is something comforting in the quiet, everyday beauty it depicts.
Distance from the wagon is about 2 metres so you’re all quite close to see the statue. Statue is about 90cm tall.
(calling back to the others on the wagon)
🎲 4 @KidVampire - The wagon comes to a halt, and you catch a scent of blood wafting from the woods. It’s fresh, perhaps only a couple of hours old — you think it’s human, yet there’s also a faint hint of sheep
Brushing away a bit of the moss, you reveal intricate, abstract carvings depicting scenes of harvest: clusters of dots and lines come together to form whimsical figures, each carrying baskets laden with bounty.
Rem really likes these glowing flowers, but not knowing the meaning of moon lilies, says nothing
Rem pulls out the amberfruit from below the ponchos, and holds them out in their hand.

“It what got me out of a pickle in the thicket. Them Toads have a softspot for oranges believe it or not, so it can’t hurt carrying a couple.”
Speakin while above
Remembering his question, he now directs his gaze now onto Síofra.
Oranges.
Kid crouches down to try and make himself inconspicuous by the thing by the sign
Síofra’s curiosity overcomes her fear of talking
“Why would we need oranges?”
Without saying a word, He takes a couple of gulps of the ale and a puff from the tobacco pipe, trying not to blow the smoke into the wagon.
“Thanks friend. That really hit the spot.”
Since Malachi has his trusty Sling he starts to climb, slowly, up the to the top of the wagon as his old bones creak.
When he makes it to the top, he lays down on his back, lets out a long breathe, and holds up his sling.
“Me and my trusty Sling have cometh”
“No oranges but you can take a hit of my tobacco pipe if you want”
“No frogs but I see something , or someone up ahead by the sign. If anyone has a bow or crossbow maybe they should come up here too just in case we’re driving into an ambush “
No Oranges, but I have some Ale...
Malachi holds out the open bottle to the driver
Directed to everyone who hears this.
With Kid Vampire on top of the wagon, Malachi sticks his head out and looks up.
See any frogs out there?
(directed at Kid Vampire)
Malachi continues to survey the area from the wagon opening looking left to right, continuously.
Then looking back with his elbow leaning to the wooden separator.
“Hey, you don’t happen to have oranges would ya??”
Noticing Kid vampire climbing,
“What do you see?”
“Yep... don’t envy y’all, but the pay is good just to get you guys there”
A small smirk before...
Rem, who still smells like wine, leans closer to Síofra, and speaks in a whispering tone
Oh its not an order like that, it’s an organization that says they are helping people, but as far as I’ve seen, they are doing the exact oppsite.
Kid vampire begins climbing on the top of the wagon, with this vintage point you notice at the distance - A weathered wooden sign, at the edge of the woods; marking the entrance and something next to it, but it is too far to make out. Looking up, you observe the sky darkening with heavy clouds gathering on the horizon
🕒 - 12 minutes away 🐂
(near whispering)
“What is this ‘order’ you talk of? I don’t remember there being any orders in my letter... Did you get another one?”
If this is a covered wagon , kid climbs to the top of it
Rem replies with a slight concern in their tone
I see- knowing the Order they probably want to test us if we are good for the job...
Lifting his sleeve, he unveiled a jagged scar that snaked from his shoulder to his elbow, a testament to an escape long past.
“Lost me lucky Rabbits Foot.”
“Nothin’ wrong with the rain my friend. What the rain draws out when it hits Phleghmbog Thickets is what you need to be wary of...
“The terrain becomes treacherous, visibility drops, and the cunning Toad Bandits emerge to ambush the unwary.”
❗Toad bandits is new to you all, must be an isolated group, specific to this area. Not notorious enough for word to get around.
Isn’t this just regular rain? What’s wrong with it?
by now rem got their head out of the ponchos, and they looked much better, they weren’t sweating, but the smell of the wine was still there.
❓There’s about a good 15 minutes before you get to your drop-off point - what do you want to do or ask?
Over hearing the conversation back at the wagon
“Not long now friend, we almost at the drop off point - I don’t go no further from there, I don’t get paid enough.”
Pointing at the approaching woods, then says with weary tone:
“That’s Phleghmbog Thickets.”
❓Kid vampire & Síofra - what do you think lays ahead?
While this is happening...
🗨️Current dialogue
The letter said six hours i believe
says Rem, their voice muffled and barely audible because of the two ponchos which by this point made their way up to their head.
nah, just a letter of invitation - all you guys know that you are to be escorted to “The Holy Spirits of the Golden Ox” at Midnight by a oxen rider. No characters have heard of this place.
Not waiting for a response, he throws the poncho on anyways and pulls out another giant bottle of beer that seems to have come from nowhere.
How much longer we gotta wait in this godforsaken thing?
@warden: can’t remember... have we (the characters) been informed of the final destination?
Malachi holds up the poncho in front of himself, looking at it for a good fourteen seconds before turning to the oxen rider:
Have anything else...? Not really my style...
👁️ You notice a flock of birds emerging from the woods below. They move in an unsettling, synchronized pattern across the sky as light rain begins to fall, before dispersing just as mysteriously.
A bit later Rem pulls out and looks at a pinkish crystal that seems to beat like a heart. Some tears sit at the edge of their eyes as they look at every side of it.
@warden: if i follow the rider’s gaze to the road and to the sky. Do I see anything unusual?
“It’s going to get real wet soon...”
He says under his breath, A slight concern in his tone.
Slips his own poncho on with one hand while gripping the rope tightly with the other.
Rem looks up and quickly grabs a larger and a smaller poncho, drags their legs up and tucks themself in
“Thank you”
they say, as they lie back, snuggle in, and look at the gloomy clouds in the sky.
She has never seen such variety of lives before what she saw in her companions. One looks both like a human and a cat? Another reeking of something Síofra couldn’t put a finger on. And that strange question? Not to mention the gruff man exhibiting habits she knew of all too well.
A cool breeze carries the scent of new rain, and you can hear the distant rumble of thunder.
“siiick free poncho. This’ll go great with my cape”
“I’ve got some ponchos tucked beneath your feet there, part of the ol’ golden oxen service.”
Keeping his eyes on the road
“It’s starting to spit,”
he says, glancing up at the darkening sky
Síofra gazed at the piles of cloth longingly, not daring to move for them before any others. She dared now, to peek up from under her hood, lulled into a fleeting sense of comfort by the rocking of the wagon
The oxen rider taps the back of the cart, his knuckles making a dull thud against the wood.
this changes a lot
“ya totally, um , me too”
Now back to the story :)
Malachi the Mundane is laying down right in the middle of the wagon, not really caring how much space he takes up.
He has a quite giant bottle of beer that he continues to sip out of. His hat turned down to keep the light out of his eyes and he’s mostly just mumbling weird utterances to himself until he hears Kid Dynamite speak.
What did you do at the Tavern while you waited?
“Whichever kind is in my body and stays that way”
Malachi responds quite gruffly
“so, what’s your favorite bloodtype?”
How did you recieve this summons?
the kid looks around at his fellow adventures. the phrase ‘riff raff’ comes to mind. A real strange bunch. I bet none of them have ever been to a vampire ball, or tried vampire snacks, or done vampire taxes. maybe that’s a good thing tho
maybe i’ll try an old vampire ice breaker. seemingly out of nowhere he exclaims:
How do did you get to
Summoned to the White Goat Tavern in
You’ve been invited to The Holy Spirits of the Golden Ox
Kid Dynamite is staring out into oblivion, faintly recalling the taste of blood. It’s a vague memory now. He’s holding a piece of hay in the corner of his mouth, cowboy-style, to distract from any lingering cravings. also maybe to look cool? but that’s for others to say, not him.
The Holy Spirits of the Golden Ox
Síofra kept her head down, the demeaning words of the townpeople still ringing in her ear. Soon she started to shiver not just from the moving of the wagon, but from the cold dampness seeping through her clothes
Rem wasn’t looking to good. They were always thirsty, and were lying down with closed eyes, they were sweating too, even though the temperature of the air wasn’t warm. They smelled like a combination of all the good wines in the region.
A light drizzle of rain begins to fall upon the creaking wagon as it trundled down the dusty road, the oxen’s hooves kicking up mud with each step. Seated atop the ox, a grizzled oxen rider keeps a watchful eye, his weathered face etched with lines that spoke of countless journeys.

But you are not close enough to determine / investigate ambush signs at the distance you are currently at. Other than Q’s to Ox rider

🐂
Oh but also , is there an alternate route we could take? Like Through the thickets?
So we have 15 minutes to ride through this area with toad bandits? Is there anything we can do to prevent ambush? Can we see if any are emerging or near?
Preventing ambush is depending on what you do as characters - but since you are warned ahead of time - how you enter (Rule: You are alert enough) will determine the chances / prevention.
Given the information you know so far - all is quite new. The Oxen rider has experience but would need questioning in RP (unless this was and I will connect and reply as such). But to clarify, the location is eluded to be located inside the thicket itself.

Show, Don’t Tell
This is important in roleplaying and writing. Rather than telling your audience flat out how your character feels, you should show them instead.
WRONG: “Azazel felt awful for what he had done.”
RIGHT: “Azazel’s ears drooped and his eyes fell to the ground, unable to look at the other canine. The corners of his lips drooped in the beginnings of a frown, and when he opened his mouth to speak, he found shame had taken the words out of him.”

Highly encourage any drawings or map cartography - usually throw this out to the players; don’t need to be an artist; doodles encouraged
Please ensure your readiness for the journey at the specified time, as the nature of this travel requires precise coordination. An open tab, recorded under the name “Axe and Bones,” has been arranged for your convenience, covering all your needs during your time at the tavern.
Probably a space to chat about Kinopio tweaks / how we could improve the flows
To whom answers the call,
You are hereby summoned to the White Goat Tavern located in the burgeoning town of Silverford. This invitation is extended for the purpose of meeting with a prearranged Oxen Rider who will serve as your guide for the journey ahead to meet me for further details.
Kindly make the necessary preparations and arrive promptly to meet your escort by the request above. Any inquiries will be detailed at the final destination; Safe travels. Signed, RK
does that mean free wine? well I’ve got to go now.
The letter:
First cycle of responses ✅
Smell: New rain Sound: Grasshopper chirps
I’ll keep Warden comments expanded, but any “Private” message will be a connector to your card.
Then after all visual descriptors are done, you can begin some small talk - This can be external, or internal if you choose to not engage, please write your thoughts.
hints: What do you look like, what are they thinking.
💩Everyone, let’s describe your characters as you are all sitting in this wagon to kick it off.
Though I’ll give as much information and forcasting as well. so there’s no sudden “unfair” surprises
We’ll wait for Estrella :)
Do I know this road?
I am familiar with X - eg:
Do we know “X” - know if, etc
To ground more into the story/world - you can ask OOC questions at the end of your turn. A bit of detective work from the player side:
Responses
Think of each response with a layer of time. - Discussion as a group if we need clarity
You can interject and branch if its in the realms of inner monologue and thought.
Conversation would need a wait time so everyone gets a chance to respond - with a reply, action or thought.
You don’t need to reply in order as well; we can shuffle and figure it out as we go to see how it works - perhaps connect a card to what you’re reacting to - but what’s revealed to the character though.
Added more to the scene; figuring out formating
