The trail grip needs to hold the trail at a point along its length, which may be added in the middle of the trail without having to undo other connectors. It needs to hold the trail hardware gently enough that it doesn’t apply point force, but also it needs to hold firmly enough that when adjusting the position of other connectors during setup, the unpredictable and strong spring forces don’t undo the rest of the setup
