Nah, just trying to strategize.
Romnez makes an expression that clearly stats what kind of idea he just got.
We can ask for payment up front and not return. Win-win, both for us.
Do we really want to do this for some measly 50 gold? The kelp would be worth more by itself.
If you need to look at part one again
hm.... gota find a better grid measurement
I Would say yes, that you’ve had some familiarity - this is more of a test space - so let’s say you have for ease. We’ll have a separate space on how you guys wanna go about it. But since everyone is still in character creation mode and life scheduling - the ready players can exist in this alternative timeline - It won’ carry over; so go wild.
The Deepkeeper’s Lantern kelp has a unique property - it absorbs and stores lunar energy during its growth cycle in deep waters. Once harvested, it slowly releases this energy over about 24 hours. At sundown, it undergoes a rapid energy discharge, making it useless for stabilizing potions which need a steady, controlled release of that stored energy.
Bonus - in-depth knowledge (nat20):
As a Triton - this blue kelp is indeed worth its weight in gold, Luminus azuris_ or ‘Deepkeeper’s Lantern’ as your people call it.

I’d like to ask the party if we should ask for some payment up front. The “silly dock kids” may need to be bribed to hand over what they’ve “collected” so far.

Does Romnez know anything about blue kelp? Is it rare? If so is it worth more than 50 gold?
But there’s a catch... those silly dock kids think they’re toys and started collecting them. Please hurry!”

You have about 3 hours or so before the sundown
Standing in the bustling Saltmarsh marketplace, an elderly halfling alchemist frantically waves you down.
“Thank the gods! Look, I’ll pay 50 gold pieces right now if you help me. My assistant dropped my strongbox of reagents near the docks - they scattered everywhere! I need the glowing blue kelp before sundown, or my stabilizing potions will be ruined.
Theme is still salt marsh adjacent
Adding Character cards here so I don’t have to travel far :)

Do this five more times, so you have six numbers. > > Point Cost. You have 27 points to spend on your ability scores. The cost of each score is shown on the Ability Score Point Costs table. | 1 | **Spirit of the Whale.** You smuggled stolen dwarven spirits in the body of a dead whale being pulled behind a fishing boat. When you delivered the goods, the corpse suddenly exploded, sending whale meat and whiskey bottles for half a mile. |
| 2 | **Cart and Sword.** You drove a cart filled with stolen art through the middle of a battlefield while singing sea shanties to confuse the combatants. |
| 3 | **The Recruit.** You enlisted in another nation's navy for the purpose of smuggling stolen jewels to a distant port. You attained a minor rank before disappearing from the navy and making your way here. |
| 4 | **River of Shadows.** Your riverboat accidentally slipped through the veil into the Shadowfell for several hours. While you were there, you sold some stolen dragonborn artifacts before returning to this plane and paddling home. |
| 5 | **Gold-Hearted.** You agreed to transport a family escaping a war. The baby began to cry at a checkpoint, and you gave the guards all your gold to let you pass. The family never found out about this gesture. |
| 6 | **Playing Both Sides.** You once smuggled crates of crossbow bolts and bundles of arrows, each destined for an opposing side in a regional war, at the same time. The buyers arrived within moments of each other but did not discover your trickery. |
Start here
Nestled on the coast of the Azure Sea is Saltmarsh, a sleepy fishing village that sits on the precipice of destruction. Smugglers guide their ships to hidden coves, willing to slit the throat of any who cross their path. Monsters gather beneath the waves.
Drowned sailors stir to unnatural life, animated by dark magic. The cult of a forbidden god extends its reach. While Saltmarsh slumbers, the evils that seek to plunder it grow stronger. Heroes must arise to keep the waves safe!
Or I could just do it.. getting late. Brain fried.
I don’t know how to do good tables on Kinopio but use this - remove the three ”`” on the start and end:
Feature: Down Low You are acquainted with a network of smugglers who are willing to help you out of tight situations. While in a particular town, city, or other similarly sized community (DM’s discretion), you and your companions can stay for free in safe houses. Safe houses provide a poor lifestyle. While staying at a safe house, you can choose to keep your presence (and that of your companions) a secret. Claim to Fame Every smuggler has that one tale that sets them apart from common criminals. By wits, sailing skill, or a silver tongue, you lived to tell the story—and you tell it often. You can roll on the following table to determine your claim or choose one that best fits your character.
Smuggler
On a rickety barge, you carried a hundred longswords in fish barrels right past the dock master’s oblivious lackeys. You have paddled a riverboat filled with stolen elven wine under the gaze of the moon and sold it for twice its value in the morning. In your more charitable times, you have transported innocents out of war zones or helped guide herd animals to safety on the banks of a burning river.
Skill Proficiencies: Athletics, Deception
Tool Proficiencies: Vehicles (water)
Equipment: A fancy leather vest or a pair of leather boots, a set of common clothes, and a leather pouch with 15 gp
The people of Saltmarsh generally find themselves split among the two following factions.

A Brief History of Saltmarsh
Who are you?
If you pick one of the backgrounds for the Players Handbook, I will supply you some new context to that background to you into this adventure. Comment below if you have, else you can try the new backgrounds specific to Saltmarsh
You are a band of adventurers who seek the betterment of the people of Saltmarsh.
Above all you are companions who, together, seek to bring safety and prosperity to the village of Saltmarsh.
You might be a veteran of the Keolish army who fought in the north before being sent to the south to crush the Sea Princes.
You may be a smuggler, bringing in stolen elven wine under the darkness of a moonless night or smuggling innocents out of the clutches of the Sea Princes.
You may be a shipwright, building and repairing the vessels that kept the gold coming to Saltmarsh.
You might be a marine, a soldier of the sea pushing back the smugglers and slavers of the Sea Princes.
You might have come to Saltmarsh with the dwarven miners, bold with the King’s decree and eager to make your fortune.
You may be a fisher, born to the sea and providing for the town of Saltmarsh.
You may be a follower of the god
Years ago the Kingdom of Keoland campaigned to the north. Pirates and smugglers slowly took over the south building a loose confederacy known as the Hold of the Sea Princes. Saltmarsh suffered as the village succumbed to piracy and slavery under the cruel Princes. Suffering a number of defeats in the north, King Kimbertos Skotti sent ships south, shattering the confederacy of the Sea Princes. With the Sea Princes on the run, the King sent troops and agents south to establish security and trade. A band of dwarves carrying the King’s decree, begin to mine in the nearby hills. Although the recent changes stand to bring new prosperity to the area, many locals don’t want to see their home changed.
Our story begins in Saltmarsh, a nondescript fishing village tucked away on the southern coast of the Kingdom of Keoland. Fishing and trade have brought wealth to Saltmarsh’s roughly five thousand mostly human residents. Inns and taverns include the Wicker Goat, Empty Net, and Snapping Line. Other notable locations include the Dwarven Anvil forge, the temple of Procan, Kester’s Leather Goods, the Mariner’s Guildhall, and the Weekly Market.
Piri and Rain will be sharing their sheet soon.

Campaigns
The starting adventures - but you can really just start on any.
I never ran it, but it seems on the super light hearted side; Fantasy easy mode - like Shrek lol
When the ancient wizard Tyndareus develops a craving for a special treat from his childhood, he will stop at nothing to get his hands on the best apple pie in the whole world. He hires a group of adventurers to seek out the bakery that once produced the wonderful dessert – unfortunately for them, the bakery has long since been overrun by goblins. But all is not as it seems at Grammy’s Bakery, and Tyndareus isn’t the only one who’d do anything for those pies.
Light hearted tones
One shot
This one has darker tones, but flexible dependin on the group tone. It will be a very Gothic themed game - think Berserk (Manga) or Dracula movies. More super naturals + gloom in this adventure

The idea so far ...
Not set in stone yet!
Minimum 1 post per day; going around the ‘table/group’
As a DM, I would try check and response throughout the day.
Expected posting window:
A window of 1-3 days allowance before turn your turn is skipped.
The 3rd day I’ll try ping you for a response, and as a back up leave a placeholder card - in case you’d like to respond after being skipped.
Though, that placeholder card has to be flavor ; a response that doesn’t derail the future posts people have made in the game.
Non-impact responses to the fiction, if that makes sense.
What If I’m busy??
Life happens so not gonna press you heaps, and no pressure if you cannot reply during that window - This is just to keep the game moving, and you’ll be passively moving along with the group until your ready/caught up.
Possible active mode:
We can establish a golden hour where everyone’s time syncs to do a rapid fire, a kin to IRL play, but this depends on the group. This would require us to work out the best times for everyone, based on the timezones.
Expected post frequency (WIP)
Mark off people that have claimed or made their characters
Create a space and link a screenshot/PDF of a filled sheet of your liking. This will only use one card
For guest/free users
Duplicating this space will use up your free 100 cards, if you rather not.
Also a good place to ask questions on rules and Play-by-post method.

Session zeros helps everyone manage their expectations about what the game is and what it is not. It helps tie the characters to one another, to the world in which they exist, and to the main story of the campaign. It helps everyone understand what kind of game you’ll be playing and helps define the boundaries of that game.

Hello new players! Thanks for your time - please intro below :)
Play this while in this space :)
A campaign:
Is an ongoing series of adventures that unfolds over multiple sessions. Campaigns often have a larger, evolving story with long-term character development, world-building, and story arcs that allow players to explore the setting and their characters more deeply.
The sun rises over the Stonehill Inn in Phandalin. Downstairs, Toblen Stonehill helps staff ready the tables for breakfast.

Add your suggestions as well :) I linked a list - happy to purchase any. I have most of the official ones from D&D beyond
One-shot:
Is a single-session adventure with a self-contained story. It’s designed to be completed in one sitting (usually 2-5 sessions), often with a specific goal or scenario to resolve, making it ideal for a quick game or trying out new systems or characters.
This is like equivalent to a quick fetch quest.
Do this first - if you’re free :)

Still work in progress but trying out new things for this PbP
I quickly grab a sandwich and shove in under my cloak, a quick heel turn and I begin to whistle a jolly tune as I walk out.
I take a quick bite when no one is looking.
“Yum...”
He says, while rubbing his belly.
Your shouting awakens other patrons, some of which peek out of their rooms to see you heading down the hall. Toblen notices the sudden ruckus and makes his way upstairs.
“Is everything alright?”
he asks
DM & Players - Out of character:
Player In character
“Joey! Where are my pants?”
He hurriedly grabs his shirt, wraps it around his waist, and rushes out of his room and down the hall to “I know it was you! You’re always stealing my pants! Come out before I burn down this door!”
The room is filled with the warm of fresh baked bread, and there is fresh sandwiches by the counter. The baker is preoccupied with a flour merchant, and has not noticed you walk in.
For players
Character dialogue would be set in using:
In game:
Heading 2 with quotations
+ assigned colour card.
Optional: Add Italics for emotion (adverbial modifier).
Out of character:
Tag + card at 50% transparency
DM - In game
Example:
Casual writing - not too long, short and sweet
What does fireball do?
Example II :
Medium detail writing - A little more detail but not too much.
Player 2 card colour
How do I short rest?
Reading orientation
You post your cards vertically and any OOC would be on the side.

Player 1 card colour
Out of Character cards - Questions and Dice rolls
DM card colour
In game card - Dialogue
Read vertically, with out of character + dice rolls done on the side of the cards
